Death Boogie is both a concept album and a theatrical production coined as a Hip Hop Poetry Musical that follows the fictional story of Victor Spartan, a blue collar worker who lives a comatose lifestyle by day and at night, hears the poetic sounds of revolution. Directed by Jennifer McGrath, Music by The Mighty Third Rail, Media Design by Room 404 Media, Comic Book Illustrations by David Ayllon, Written and Performed by Darian Dauchan.
Death Boogie Synopsis
Death Boogie, winner of two Musical Theater Matters awards for BEST new music and BEST innovation of a musical at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, is a multimedia Hip Hop Poetry Musical directed by Jennifer McGrath that follows the fictional story of Victor Spartan, a blue collar worker who lives a comatose lifestyle by day and at night, hears the poetic sounds of revolution. A political romp with a Pee Wee Herman meets Che Guevara type flare. Through the combination of music and comic book illustrations, Death Boogie is a high energy whimsical examination on the notion of martyrdom, altruism, and courage through the stories of a Greek Titan, a soldier, a prisoner of war, a cheetah, and a child.
