Obamatry: A Spoken Word Remix on the 44th President of the United States of America is a multimedia solo show directed by Jennifer McGrath, and written and performed by Actor/Poet Darian Dauchan, winner of the Jerome Foundation's Stakeholder's Choice Award in conjunction with Bowery Arts and Science, consisting of live looped songs, beat-boxing and a collage of poems and presidential soundbites chronicling from candidacy, to presidency, to present day. A virtual rhetorical conversation on the subject of America between a Poet and a President.
Performance History
Obamatry was first produced in partnership with the Bowery Arts and Science and The Horse Trade Theater Group, and was performed at the Under St. Marks Theater in the month of October 2012 till November 6th, the very night of the Presidential Election. The Encore Show was January 21st, 2013, Inauguration Day, at the Wild Project for the 2013 Poetic License Festival. The following week it was also presented at The Kitchen Theatre in Ithaca, New York.
